Hello, I'm Rupert!

When we read ancient ethics, we try to reconstruct the words before us. When it comes to philosophy, we also try to reconstruct the arguments. However, there is a level below that: how these thinkers conceived their most basic normative and ethical concepts and how they relate to one another. My dissertation tries to outline these foundational concepts and map their relations.  

I'm a PhD student at Stanford University working on Ancient Ethical Theory. I have interests in epistemology and metaphysics, and I'm writing my dissertation on Ancient Metaethics. Besides my work, I love bright shoes, small dogs, and the rain. You can find my CV here.
